About our Hayward masonry contractor crew

Red brick walkway and steps lead to a white door on a brick house, bordered by lawn and flower pots.

From a restaurant line to a trowel

I spent years cooking on the line in restaurant kitchens before I ever picked up a trowel. Then I learned masonry on other people's crews, and in 2020 I started Bedrock Hayward Concrete and Masonry here in Hayward. The kitchen never really left me. You prep before the rush and keep a clean station, and that's still how I run a job.

Most of our calls come from homeowners with older brick, a worn chimney or a yard they want to build out. We've become known for the jobs other people pass on, like old brick where the mortar has to suit the wall, a chimney nobody wants to climb, or a wall on a slope that takes some figuring out. What I care about most is that new work suits what's already there, so the mortar fits the brick and the drainage fits the yard. We're a masonry contractor in Hayward, CA, and we work across the cities around it on both sides of the bay. You can see everything we take on from our home page.

What it's like to work with us

  • The same person from estimate to final walk

I come out myself to look at your job and give the estimate, and I stay on it with our crew through the work, so you're never explaining your project twice. We're fully licensed and insured, and you can reach us at (510) 264-7015 or through our contact page.

  • Time for the hard jobs

Old brick, sloped yards and chimneys others pass on are the jobs we actually like, and we give them the time and thought they need. If something needs a closer look before I can tell you what's going on, I'll say so plainly.

  • A clean site while we work

Years in kitchens taught me that a messy station slows everything down, so we keep the site organized and tidy up as we go. Your house and yard aren't buried in dust and rubble while the job is underway.

How we go about a job

  1. Questions first

We ask how the problem started and what you want out of the job before we give you an answer.

  2. Find the cause

We figure out why your masonry wore out before we fix it, so the repair goes after the real problem and not just the crack you can see.

  3. Check the rules

We check with the city or county office for your address, handle permits and inspections when one's needed, and tell you at the estimate if an engineer's design is needed.

  4. Prep ahead

We get materials staged and your yard protected before the heavy work starts, the same way a kitchen preps before the dinner rush.

  5. Taste before serving

We check our work before we call it done, then walk the finished job with you so you see it the way we do.
